Join Todd Beyreuther, senior director of advanced materials for Katerra, to learn about how this technology company is innovating across every aspect of building design and construction. Katerra is an end-to-end building services provider with offerings that include: architecture, engineering, construction management and general contracting, materials supply, renovations services, and interior design. Founded in 2015, Katerra has grown rapidly in the U.S. and internationally with nearly 4,000 employees.
Katerra is growing its presence in the Spokane region. Currently, the company has a design team based in Spokane and is constructing a 250,000 square-foot cross-laminated timber facility in Spokane Valley. When the factory comes online early next year, it will be the largest of its kind in North America. Katerra is also constructing the Catalyst zero-net-energy building in Spokane’s University District. The building will feature CLT produced at Katerra’s new factory. Once complete, Katerra will become a tenant, basing its design team and an advanced materials R&D lab there.
Todd Beyreuther is a building engineer who joined Katerra in 2016 to lead integrated research and design of material and structural systems, including cross-laminated timber. Before Katerra, Todd focused on design, engineering and composite materials research as a professor at Washington State University and the University of Washington. Todd will share how his interest in mass timber led him to Katerra and how the company hopes to contribute to Spokane becoming a national leader in mass timber and an integral part of Washington’s advanced materials manufacturing community.
