Teamwork is essential in our busy work environments, both within and between departments. We operate in a matrix structure, participating on many adhoc and cross-functional teams. It’s important to understand the essential components of effective teams because the degree of teamwork we achieve has an impact on performance. Teamwork, or the lack thereof, affects productivity, costs, quality, and both customer and job satisfaction.
High performing teams can energize the entire organization, increase profitability, and stimulates personal growth for the team members. Dysfunctional teams achieve far less. Their members express their frustrations through complaints, direct or indirect conflict, or through absenteeism and turnover. These teams have the potential to erode company culture and negatively impact profitability.
What’s the secret to building a stronger team? It lies in paying attention to the basics. Effective teams use their combined skills, commitment and accountability to achieve their desired results. The foundation is trust. Without trust, you can’t engage in constructive disagreement, challenging each other to bring out their best, thereby gaining full commitment and enabling accountability, leading to results.
This session is intended for executives, directors, managers and HR practitioners.
