The population of Spokane County is expected to grow 21% by the year 2040. While area government agencies plan for this growth, it could lead to congested roadways, a continued housing shortage and air pollution if that planning isn’t well thought out. The Spokane Regional Transportation Council (SRTC) is bringing Gov. Parris Glendening to Spokane to talk about an approach to growth and development that encourages a mix of building types and uses, diverse housing and transportation options, development within existing neighborhoods, and community engagement. Glendening will speak on creating communities that offer choices in transportation, housing and employment on Wednesday, Oct. 3 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Bookie, WSU Spokane, 410 E. Spokane Falls Boulevard. This event is free and open to the public.
