November library programs offer games, crafts, creative projects, insights, connection

Spokane, WA | October 23, 2025 – Spokane County Library District offers programs for every age on a medley of topics in November. Teens, kids, and families can play games, make crafts, use technology to create cool things, and more. Adults can explore new hobbies, dive into their creativity, get support related to health and wellness, enjoy author talks, discover insights on important topics, and more.

                                                                                Kids & Families

Kids ages 5 and older and their families can explore the world and create an adventure with games, crafts, and activities during two programs at our libraries: Games & Crafts from Around the World and Choose Your Own Adventure: Crafts & Activities. Tweens ages 8–12 can learn how to make their own short movie with LEGO mini figures during LEGO Stop-Motion Studio.

The holiday season is around the corner, and two programs may bring participants jolly good times: 3D Printing Family Fun: Design a Gift for kids ages 8 and older and their adults and Awkward Family Photos: Holiday Cringe Edition for all ages.

Teens, ages 13–17, can explore their creativity and find new adventures during two monthly programs at Spokane Valley Library (22 N Herald Rd): Teen STEAM: Ignite Your Imagination and Teen RPG Club: Arcane Adventures. View all library programs for teens at scld.org/teens-events.

                                                                                    Adults

Stretch your creativity and dive into imagination during Dreams, Lies & Wishes Poetry Workshop. Taste new or favorite flavors during World Cooking: Colombian Food with Chef Jacky Londoño of Antojitos Colombianos. Explore a new hobby or develop one you already enjoy with Introduction to Quilting: Potholders, Genealogy Drop-In Session, and Glowforge: Holiday Ornaments.

Make digital memories more accessible for family and friends this holiday season with the help of Project Memory: Digitizing Home Movies. The return of Awkward Family Photos: Holiday Cringe Edition for all ages promises chuckles and guffaws for those who dare to embrace a wince-inducing and jolly time.

During the presentation Lost Apples of the Palouse, hear about the thousands of named apples trees that have gone missing over hundreds of years and the steps being taking to bring these apples back to life. Sign up for an SCLD Online Authors Series talk to submit questions to these authors: award-winning journalist Joseph Lee, novelist Amanda Peters, and super-communicator Charles Duhigg.

For those impeded by a fear of falling and getting injured, the class A Matter of Balance: Preventing Falls returns on October 27 for eight in-person sessions. The online program Supporting Those with Memory Loss During the Holidays offers educational tips on how to support a loved one who might have a difficult time with the busy holiday season.

Our Memory Café for those experiencing memory loss and their caregivers continues at North Spokane and Spokane Valley Libraries. Other library programs that offer support and information include the Empowered Caregiver Workshop Series beginning October 27, Dementia programs, Medicare sessions, the Homebuyer Education Seminar, and WorkSource Drop-In Help.

Financial educators from BECU, share expertise in two informational sessions: Manage Your Money: A Practical Guide to Handling Your Finances and Fraud Detection & Prevention.

During the online workshop Resiliency in Business, discover how to prepare for challenges with the help of a SCORE business mentor. In an author talk with Dr. Natalie Nixon PhD, hear about a new framework for productivity that she explores in her book Move. Think. Rest.: Redefining Productivity & Our Relationship with Time.

Adults and teens ages 16 and older learn how they can help a child improve their reading skills and gain confidence as a reader when they attend the online Reading Buddy Volunteer Orientation.
